Ahhh yeah you don't want to use just cement there is a chinking article here that will give you the recipe that is used here at the lodge: Log Home Mortar Chinking Recipe -- You can do it yourself its pretty simple. There are a number of chinking articles here on the site. if you are looking to mimic the color you can use some additives or minerals to grey it out to color your chinking.

Hi from Alaska,

I have an old log home in Alaska that was built in 1929 and I am trying to learn as much as I can on re-chinking the interior logs. Initially, I thought I might try to hire someone to do them, but after watching your uTube video, I may attempt this myself. The color of my existing chinking looks the color of dark cement and I am curious what type of mixture I would use to try to achieve that color scheme. Maybe you can provide some assistance on that topic. I would really appreciate it:)

Hey Gen – LOL – That may work for some but I have no doubt most women would see right through that sly tactic and point the offender to the dog house or couch for a while. I would highly advise against that LOL.
