What better on a chilly evening than to kick back with a hearty swiss steak.
Ingredients:
Dry Mustard
Salt
Pepper
Flour
Shortening
Carrots
Worcestershire sauce
Brown Sugar
Tomatoes
Mushrooms
Beef
Mix:
Three fingers dry mustard
One finger salt
pepper
Two hands flour (pound seasoned flour into steak)
Preparation:
Melt a small glop of shortening in skillet. Brown meat well on all sides in the hot skillet and sprinkle with sliced onions and diced carrots over the beef, add a couple three splashes of Worcestershire sauce, three fingers brown sugar, 3 hands tomatoes and pour over meat. Cover and bake 1 1/2-1 3/4 hours in a moderately slow oven (325)
When beef is tender put on platter and garnish with sautéed mushroom caps.
Skim fat from grease and thicken drippings for gravy.
