Dear Beverly,

I hope that all is well.Lights in Snow

The past several days have been sunny and crisp. A light dusting of snow last night have left behind a landscape clean and white.

This is my last weekend in preparation for the mid-winter party here at the lodge. The RSVPs have been coming in and if it is anything like the first year there could be up to 120 friends and neighbors throughout the day. Great fun.

They will start arriving about mid day. Cocktails, wine and hot glug on the deck begin around noon. I asked the the local stable if he can be here to give sleigh rides but I don’t know if that will happen. Would be great thought to have sleigh rides down the road here.

All is ready. The bar is well stocked. Ill be slow roasting a 25 lb. fresh ham on the grill. I figured there will be around 40 people here around dinner time. I ordered the ham this morning from the butcher. It takes about 12 hours on the grill roasted to perfection glazed in honey and brown sugar. Cindy and Bill gave me the recipe for the honey glaze and Bill told me how to roast it on the grill — simple enough. I hope that it turns out.

Everyone brings food and drink which makes for quite the spread.

I so wish you could be here.
