Beer and Wooden NickelsIt has come to the end of a long and productive week. Although I usually relax with a cup of coffee, this evening I’ll be enjoying conversation with good friends around the tap at the bar here at the Lodge where an inviting and refreshing glass of ice cold beer awaits.

The past several days of fine tuning designs and drafting new blue prints late into the evening and meeting with contractors for an upcoming renovation project of rather massive scale has left me numb. Yet I sit in calm. Soothed by the knowledge that my client that has fallen in love with the designs and progress.

Hand Crafted Ceramic Shot GlassesMy own projects here at the lodge beckon me and tomorrow morning I begin framing the new workbenches and tables for the new workshop space here at the lodge.

The new workshop will allow me the space needed for my wood working shop. There are kitchen cabinets to build among other things.

The workshop will also allow space for my torches for brazing and I’ll get back to work making the copper garden gates and other garden details.

Antique Brass Beer TapI’ll again have my area for stained glass and etching and will be able to get back to creating some new windows. Its been much too long since I’ve leaded any.

The kiln, standing quietly for the past few years, will be repositioned and inspected. I know that I have to rewire it as the old cords need replacement but soon I hope to fire her up and get her ready to produce once again. My kick wheel has unfortunately sat outside for a couple of years and will need some repair. All in good time.

Tomorrow evening as a few friends and neighbors are stopping in to join me fireside at the bar here at the lodge and enjoy a few rounds of Woodford Reserve, Balvenie, Knob Creek and maybe a beer or three. A fun group.

Their favorite shots, seen in the photo above, stand ready for them as well as their favorite adult beverage to pour.

Crank up the music, loosen the tap and fire up the grill. Its guys night out at the lodge.
