When I was on my travels recently I stumbled into and artisan creating prairie style tiles. I saw so many beautiful tiles – makes me want to go out and get a bungalow so that I can use them *grin*. Ahh perhaps the next project.
I have always loved the craftsman style home, prairie style, the bungalow. Being a frequent visitor and avid reader of Houseblogs.net I have had peeks of some absolutely beautiful bungalows and enjoyed both reading about and seeing the work that people are doing in their renovations. I have posted links to some of the sites that I have been following in the side bar.
Anyway, I came across Motawi Tileworks on my recent travels and thought I would pass along the info and link to those of you seeking tile for your bungalow or craftsman jewel.
I was taken by the tiles in their various sizes and designs. So many choices, overwhelming actually, but I managed to pick out quite a few that really caught my eye. I have no idea as of yet what I’m going to do with them yet but Ill figure something out.
Motawi Tileworks has a number of craftsman style accessories such as clocks , lamps, tapestries, pillows and other accoutrements for the finely appointed home but I found their tile the most intriguing.
Their studio is in Ann Arbor Michigan where they also develop their own glazes. Influenced by 20th century artists such as Mary Chase Stratton, Adelaide Robineau, Louis Sullivan, C.F. Voysey, William DeMorgan and Dard Hunter their tiles are each a work of art.
No doubt those of you renovating and restoring craftsman homes have found your sources for such things but I figured you might enjoy taking a peek at these.
Go ahead and visit their website perhaps you will find that special piece.
