Painting Window Trim On A CottageBesides multiple other projects I had to take some time to work on fixing up the lakeside cottage that we, some friends and I purchased. We have been working hard to fix them up. We have been painting, cleaning, fixing and getting them generally ready.

Freshly painted they are pretty cute little cottages — perfect for the lake get away.

The knotty pine interior gives it further lakeside charm but the exterior needed a bit of work.

Renovation of a little yellow cottageWe had the old roof torn off and a new roof has been completed. Once that was done the old faded lime green exterior paint had to go. We decided to capitalize on the charm of the place.

Rental interest in the property has been steaming along as they they are on Lake Wallenpaupack in northeastern PA. Its the largest lake in Pennsylvania over 5,700 acres and 52 miles of shoreline. Bing on the lake they have their own private boat slip/dock – a very coveted thing to have on the lake.

Now that they have been repaired, painted and freshened up the phone has been ringing with people trying to rent them. A good thing.

We’ll hang on to them for a little while but if the right offer comes along we’d sell them. That would allow me to concentrate on the farm and the lodge.

Little rustic cottage on Lake WallenpaupackThe cottages are both for rent and for sale. We’ve asked a realtor with Pike Wayne Realty to list the properties for both rental and sale. Apparently cottages here at the lake are hard to come by especially with waterfront and a dock.

We’ll probably begin painting the second cottage soon.

Lake Wallenpalpack is in Northeast Pennsylvania, about 30 miles northeast of Scranton. The town at the northern end of the lake is Hawley, PA – an amazing and beautiful little historic town.

Lake WallenpaupackThis is quite the resort area boasting a number of very fine restaurants, ski areas, Oprah Winfrey even has a major development out here.

Not far from Hawley is Honesdale, PA – the birthplace of the American Railroad. Honesdale is the county seat for Wayne County, PA.

There are also numerous summer camps in the area as well as riding stables ski lodges, lots of marinas, historic train rides, excellent fly fishing and so many other things to do.
